Homeless Link
At a glance
Key takeaways
- Homeless Link is the national membership charity for organisations working directly with people who become homeless in England, so a homelessness service based in England with a clear project is the closest fit.
- Organisations outside England should not apply to the Thrive Together Fund, which is open only to eligible organisations improving people's lives, or the environment in which they live, in England.
- Its social investment offer, a fund with £6m available that combines loans (75%) and grants (25%), is not for core services without guaranteed income, organisations already under financial pressure, or short-term funding gaps without a clear repayment plan.
- The grant range is not stated and applications are accepted on a rolling basis, so check the fund details and contact its Head of Grants & Investments to discuss questions before applying.
- Organisations considering social investment need a clear idea of how they will use it and how much they need, a reliable income stream to meet repayments, and strong financial planning.
Overview
Homeless Link is a charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (charity number 1089173).
Homeless Link is the national membership charity for organisations working directly with people who become homeless in England. It exists to relieve poverty, sickness and need, mainly but not exclusively caused by homelessness, by providing information, education, advice, systems, processes, aid and support to individuals, organisations and other bodies. It is also the administrator of the London Homeless Collective, a grouping of 25 of London's homelessness charities, and all funds received for its Grants Programme are restricted. Through one fund it has awarded £1.8million to 21 organisations.
What they fund
Priority Areas
Homeless Link is the national membership charity for organisations working directly with people who become homeless in England. It also manages grant programmes on behalf of other funders and helps organisations access social investment. Its described grant support includes small, grassroots organisations developing projects to access capital funding. Its wider social-investment work helps organisations supporting people experiencing homelessness grow, strengthen operations and increase impact, through blended finance loans and grants. It also acts as an approved access point for the Reach Fund, referring charities and social enterprises seeking investment. The programmes described are distinct offers rather than one general grant scheme.
