Overview

The Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona (LFSAZ) was established in 2013 as a health conversion foundation when the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center—originally founded in 1963 as Western Baptist Hospital—transitioned to for-profit operation under RegionalCare Hospital Partners. Beginning with a corpus of approximately $60 million, the foundation has grown to over $61 million in assets. Since awarding its first grant in 2015, LFSAZ has distributed grants to nonprofit and government organisations throughout Cochise and eastern Santa Cruz counties. The foundation's mission is to promote population health and community wellness in Southeast Arizona, with the vision of establishing the region as a health and wellness model for the nation. In recognition of her leadership, CEO Margaret Hepburn was named Citizen of the Year in 2019.
