Funding Priorities
The Foundation supports organisations that promote the study, improvement and advancement of the arts and provide opportunities for at-risk youth to develop successful futures. Support requests must fall under one of the following five categories:
- Art Spaces: Funding for facilities and spaces dedicated to arts education and programmes
- Art Supplies: Resources and materials for arts programmes
- Career Development/Internships: Opportunities for arts career training and professional development
- Educational Programmes: After-school community programmes, university initiatives, and other educational efforts that foster interest in and appreciation of art
- Exhibitions and Publications: Requests relating to exhibitions and publications relevant to LeRoy Neiman's life and work
What They Don't Fund
- General operating expenses
- Requests outside the five specified categories (Art Spaces, Art Supplies, Career Development/Internships, Educational Programmes, Exhibitions and Publications)
Application Process & Timeline
Grant applications should be submitted no less than nine months prior to the date funding is needed. All proposals are reviewed at the Foundation's end-of-year meeting in November/December. The Foundation's staff responds to grant requests three times a year.
Proposals must include:
- A copy of the organisation's 501(c)(3) ruling from the Internal Revenue Service
- A letter describing the proposed project and the organisation's mission and goals
- Information about other funders
- Details regarding who will be served by the proposed grant
- The percentage of the grant that will go directly to supporting arts programming and education
- What other organisations or programmes are fulfilling arts education needs in the area where the grant seeker is based
