Key takeaways

  • SOAR Community's grants fit best where your group is a community group or leader working on friendly supportive communities, active lifestyles, nature and the outdoors, or, under Let's Build Health, family and youth work, volunteering, green space and healthy living.
  • Its stated range for This Is Us Grants, Small, is £1,000 to £5,000, so a request of that size fits, though no overall grant range is stated, so do not assume larger awards.
  • Check the area before you apply: This Is Us Grants is open to groups based in Burngreave, Firvale, Crabtree, Firth Park or Longley and does not fund activities outside its listed neighbourhoods and postcodes, while Let's Build Health does not fund activities outside the East & West Ecclesfield, Shiregreen & Brightside and Southey partnerships, so groups elsewhere should not apply.
  • Applications run in rounds every six months, subject to funding, and This is Us Grants accepts applications from 1 July to 15 September, so plan around that window and use the pre-application Q&A sessions or the Communities Team before you submit.

Priority Areas

Let’s Build Health Grants support activities in designated People Keeping Well partnerships, including work with families and young people, volunteering, green space and physical activity, and healthy living. The organisation describes its method as micro-commissioning, using small grants and spot purchasing of services, and reports awards to local organisations and groups.
